108 Days and counting!

There has been some time pasted since the last blog entry, mostly because Joscelyn and myself are a short 2,200 miles apart from each other. Nonetheless, I will update everyone on the current situation of our adventure.
In recent news, Joscelyn came out to visit for my spring break and her vacation. Immediately when she arrived we headed down to University of Georgia, Athens for my first collegiate race of the spring season. The race weekend proved well for me mostly because it was relaxing having Joscelyn there to help me get ready. Just the thought of her on the sidelines cheering for me is enough to make an awesome weekend. My results were nothing to put down in a resume, but it gets me excited to see my form coming along for collegiate road nationals in Colorado this May. Joscelyn will once again come out to see me race in a national event. Road nationals will begin the process of life-changing events. It will mark the end of my collegiate career as a LMC cyclist and the start of my new life in sunny Southern California with my soon to be wife.
There are many new changes that will happen in a matter of a couple of months; from graduating from college, getting married, moving into an apartment or house, and starting my career in my long time passion.
All of these mountains could not be taken alone without strength, courage, passion, and most importantly faith. But above all, God said is it not good from man to be alone, so God made man a helper comparable to him, woman. I would struggle greatly if it were not for my helper standing by my side.

Now no blog entry would be complete without a picture of us hiking, eating, or something cute, but I forgot to upload the pictures from Joscelyn camera before she returned home so I was left with nothing. Thus, what else could I load, but a picture of the cutest thing in the world, my soon to be nephew, Troy.

Meeting up with old friends

Joscelyn and I met up with Matt Kaufman and his girlfriend Karen the other week to have a bite to eat at the Yard House. Following the filling meal we meandered around the mall to find our selves at the Coffee Bean remembering old times. Matt is one of my seven groomsmen and we have shared many years together growing up from preschool to high school. It would be difficult say “I do” to Joscelyn, without him by my side.

Disneyland!

After Christmas and before New Years Joscelyn, Katie, Andrew and I went to Disneyland for the day. My father generously gave us tickets for Christmas for the four of us. Despite the ridiculous lines and the screaming kids we enjoyed each other’s company making it a memorable time.
This is why Joscelyn has asked her sister Katie Gehring to be her Matron of honor. As well, I ask Andrew Gehring to be my Best man at the Wedding.
When looking at Joscelyn and Katie’s relationship as sisters and friends, no one fulfills Katie’s place at the wedding for Joscelyn, as would her only sister.
The Best man’s role is demanding at our Wedding because he has to meet such strict guidelines. Andrew carry’s out that role many ways, mostly by being a godly man who fears the Lord. Andrew married the only other VanderWende daughter so we share and go through much of the same love and frustration. Lastly Andrew has been a good friend to me since we first met years ago.

Robert & Cristy's Wedding

Robert and Kristy’s wedding was a preview for Joscelyn and myself of what we will be doing in June. Getting all dressed up was easy, just slap on the tux and walk around then your done. Watching Robert prepare for the wedding I know that when our day comes we might feel a little bit more nervous. Then again we have been waiting so long it might be a relief by the time it comes.

Flowers

Joscelyn and I went to Michaels the other day to pick up some more centerpiece flowers for the tables. She picked up more mason jars to put the everlasting white snowballs flowers into. We thought it was awesome to get all the flowers we need for most of the decorating, so we will not have to worry about it later. Do not worry; we will get real flowers for the bouquets and thing of that nature. After leaving Michaels we crossed off the list of all the “decorative” flowers we need and headed off to see the person who will help us with our invitations. Over the past two weeks I have been home for Fall Break we have accomplished several items on our list of “things to do before the wedding”. We cannot wait till a few months before the wedding because hopefully we will have almost everything completed.
